I have a core conviction

I believe that our spiritual life is not just a part of our life, alongside work, relationships, and hobbies. The spiritual life is our whole life seen as the playground of God’s Spirit. God is in it all, challenging, wooing, forgiving, transforming. Our job is to wake up, respond, and to accept God’s invitation to play.

I have a core calling

To help people—parents, pastors, leaders, restless searchers of all stripes, you—become increasingly open and responsive to the transforming love of God in your life.

That’s why I write and why I speak. That’s why I travel and teach and preach. That’s why I talk about saints of ages past and places far-flung.

That’s why I introduce people to new ways of prayers and reintroduce them to old ones. So they can flourish in a life with God. So they can learn to love the way they long to.
